COMPLIANCE WITH CALIFORNIA’S “TRANSPARENCY IN SUPPLY CHAIN” LAW

Medline Industries, LP (“Medline”) is dedicated to complying with the California Transparency in Supply Chain Act of 2010. This notice summarizes Medline’s initiatives to promote the eradication of slavery and human trafficking.

Medline is committed to ensuring that working conditions in its supply chain are safe, that workers are treated with respect and dignity, and that manufacturers are socially responsible. Medline requires that its suppliers fully comply with the laws, rules, and regulations of the countries in which they operate, including the California Transparency in Supply Chain Act of 2010 and other laws pertaining to the eradication of slavery and human trafficking. To that end, Medline has implemented programs and initiatives intended to eradicate the use of slavery and human trafficking throughout its supply chain.

Medline strictly prohibits slave labor, human trafficking or child labor of any kind with respect to all of its activities and requires the same of its suppliers. Medline employs a team, including members directly involved with supply chain management, whose members have extensive experience and training in social compliance. Further, through its Supplier Code of Conduct, Medline requires that its suppliers not use any form of forced, bonded, indentured, or prison labor. All work shall be voluntary and workers shall be free to leave or terminate their employment with reasonable notice. Workers shall not be required to surrender any government-issued identification, passports, or work permits as a condition of employment.

Medline monitors and evaluates suppliers by requiring them to certify that they will adhere to Medline’s Supplier Code of Conduct, which specifically addresses the prohibited use of involuntary and child labor and specifies that materials incorporated into the supplied product comply with the laws regarding slavery and human trafficking of the country or countries in which the supplier is doing business. Medline also conducts social compliance audits in accordance with local laws, the Medline Supplier Code of Conduct and SA8000 standards. These audits (both announced and unannounced) are conducted by a combination of qualified Medline personnel and third party audit companies. Medline has Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to address removing from the supply chain suppliers who do not comply with Medline’s Supplier Code of Conduct relating to slavery and human trafficking.
