Troubleshooting FAQs for Medline Blood Pressure Cuffs
These cuffs are giving inaccurate readings.
- Medline cuffs are tested to all of the same standards as other leading manufacturers including 1) air leakage testing, 2) dimensional testing, 3) 1,000 inflations cycle testing, and 4) maximum pressure testing.
- The most common issue we see where clinicians are concerned about accuracy is due to sizing. It is important to note that the index line must fall within the range finder box on the BP cuff to ensure that the cuff is the right size for that patient.
- If issues persist, change out the adapter on the cord. Then try testing the cuff on a different machine to see if it is an issue with the machine, the patient, or the cuff. It is important to isolate and eliminate each variable to determine the issue.
These adapters are breaking.
- It is to be expected that there will be a percentage of adapters that break post-conversion, as users get used to the new connection style, especially when going from a push button connector to the HP/bayonet style.
- Do not twist the sheath on the adapter. The sheath should be pulled back when disconnecting the cuff.
- Do not hold the sheath on the adapter when inserting the cuff. Hold the end of the adapter or the tubing when inserting the cuff, so as to not lock the sheath in the upward position.
- We leave extra adapters with BioMed, and they can assist with swapping out the adapters if needed once the Medline team is no longer on site.
